Doesn’t life constantly ask us questions? Present us with problems to resolve? And aren’t we equally full of certainties of our own? Do bad questions exist? Is it more important to ask questions or to respond to them? Does all of this amount to nothing more than a fool’s errand? But above all: “What does the doctor say?”

For three years, I have been collecting thousands of screen shots from subtitled films, drawing indiscriminately across directors, actors, periods and genres. Three quarters of this collection was set aside, and only the subtitles containing questions and answers were kept; the tragi-comic accumulation that resulted lets us see and read our way into the interior of a hovering, flickering mind.

Questions/Réponses" is a collection of 100 postcards divided in two boxsets: 50 questions and 50 answers taken from movies made between 1936 and 2014 (all the images are original screenshots with subtitles). The cards can be used to create "postal dialogues" with friends, to create compositions/dialogues on a wall, or to play and improvise "cadavre exquis" of sentences.

J'ai accumulé depuis trois ans des milliers de captures d’écran de films sous-titrés, sans distinction d’auteurs, d’acteurs, de périodes ou de genres. Les trois-quarts de ce stock ont été mis de côté pour ne garder que les sous-titrages comportant des questions ou des affirmations; leur accumulation vertigineuse, tragi-comique, donne à voir et à lire l'intérieur d'un esprit papillonnant.
